Boise, ID (November 4, 2024) – A tragic incident occurred on the evening of November 1, when a pedestrian was found deceased in the roadway near the intersection of W. Overland Rd. and S. Atlantic St. Boise Police responded to the scene shortly before 9:40 p.m. after receiving a report from a driver who believed they had run over what appeared to be an already deceased individual.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim with severe, fatal injuries. Initial investigations revealed that several drivers had noticed what they thought was an object in the roadway and managed to swerve to avoid it. However, evidence suggests that the victim had been run over multiple times by vehicles that were unable to avoid him.
To secure the scene, Overland Rd. was closed between Latah St. and Owyhee St. for several hours while the Boise Police’s Criminal Investigation Division and Crash Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation. Multiple drivers and witnesses were interviewed on the scene to gather more information about the incident.
Support services were provided by the Boise Police Department’s Victim Witness Coordinators, along with partners from the Trauma Intervention Program of Treasure Valley (TIP). The identity of the victim is currently unknown, and the Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once confirmed and next of kin are notified.
This remains an active investigation, and detectives are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to contact Ada County Dispatch.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
