Black Hawk County, IA (February 26, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl and left another woman injured, according to Black Hawk County authorities.
The accident occurred around 7:13 a.m. in the 8000 block of Poyner Road. Deputies arrived to find a Jeep Cherokee fully engulfed in flames and a Pontiac Sunfire with a trapped occupant.
The 22-year-old driver of the Jeep managed to escape before the fire spread and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 14-year-old girl, who was inside the Pontiac, was extricated and taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
