Birmingham, AL (December 4, 2024) – Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a tragic house fire early Tuesday morning in the 3500 block of Boise Ave SW. The fire, which occurred at approximately 1:15 A.M., resulted in the death of a 71-year-old woman.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Juanita Williams Pickens. Despite efforts to save her, she was transported to UAB Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, and investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire, though it remains unknown at this time.
