Bethel, NC (November 7, 2024) – In a tragic accident early Thursday morning, a 15-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car while walking along Highway 13 South near Big Oak Rd in Pitt County. The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m.
According to troopers, the young pedestrian was wearing headphones while walking in the southbound lane when she was struck by a sedan traveling on the highway. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene, but the teenager was sadly pronounced dead at the site of the accident.
