Belleview, FL (December 03, 2024) – A hit-and-run crash in Belleview on Sunday afternoon has claimed the life of a 34-year-old woman. According to the Belleview Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 2:48 PM in the 10400 block of U.S. 441 South. The victim, later identified as Ariel Hartford, was struck while attempting to cross the street in a designated crosswalk.
Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene at 3:00 PM, and Hartford was pronounced deceased at 3:02 PM. Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle involved in the crash ran a red light, hit Hartford, and then fled the scene. Authorities are continuing to search for the driver of the vehicle, which witnesses described.
