Bedford, NH (November 8, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Nashua man Wednesday evening. The crash occurred just before 5:15 p.m. on the Raymond Wieczorek Dr offramp onto South River Rd.
According to New Hampshire State Police, 33-year-old Brandon G. Roy of Nashua was riding a 2020 Honda motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn along the ramp. He lost control of the motorcycle, which crashed and came to rest on the roadway. Despite the life-saving efforts of Bedford fire and rescue teams, Roy succumbed to his injuries at Elliot Hospital shortly after the crash.
The offramp was closed for approximately two and a half hours as officials conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. Bedford police, New Hampshire Department of Transportation employees, and state troopers worked together to manage the site.
Our hearts go out to Brandon Roy’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Motorcycle Fatalities in New Hampshire
Motorcycle accidents, especially fatal ones, remain a critical safety concern across New Hampshire. Riders face unique vulnerabilities, with limited protection compared to passengers in other vehicles. In this case, the design of the offramp and its challenging curve may have been factors contributing to the crash.
In 2023, New Hampshire reported a rise in motorcycle fatalities, with many incidents occurring on highways and ramps where sudden maneuvers are required. Safety advocates encourage motorcyclists to slow down in unfamiliar areas, practice defensive driving, and wear appropriate protective gear to mitigate risks.
