Beaver Dam, WI (January 27, 2025) – A devastating accident involving an intoxicated driver resulted in one fatality and multiple severe injuries Sunday afternoon in Dodge County. The tragic collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway A and Highway B in the town of Beaver Dam, according to authorities.
Initial investigations revealed that the crash happened when a 2024 Ford F150 pickup truck, traveling eastbound on Highway B, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2006 Cadillac Escalade on Highway A. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to end up in a field at the northeast corner of the intersection.
Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene, where they discovered multiple injuries. Tragically, a 30-year-old Tennessee man, a passenger in the pickup truck, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pickup’s driver, a 32-year-old Tennessee man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was initially transported by ambulance to a local hospital before being airlifted to Aurora Medical Center Summit. Authorities confirmed that he faces charges for operating while impaired.
The 35-year-old driver of the Escalade, a Fox Lake man, and a 38-year-old female passenger suffered critical injuries and were flown to Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. They were later transferred to Aurora Medical Center Summit. Additionally, three children in the Escalade sustained injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening, although one child was later transported to University Hospital in Madison for further treatment.
The identities of those involved have not been released, pending family notifications. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating crash.
Drunk Driving Accidents in Wisconsin
Drunk driving remains one of the leading causes of fatal car accidents across the United States, including Wisconsin. Alcohol impairs reaction time, decision-making abilities, and coordination, which significantly increases the likelihood of serious crashes. According to state statistics, over 25% of traffic-related fatalities involve drivers under the influence of alcohol.
In this incident, the failure to stop at a stop sign—coupled with alcohol impairment—led to catastrophic consequences. Intersections are particularly dangerous because they require drivers to remain highly vigilant and adhere to traffic control devices. When intoxicated drivers fail to follow these rules, the risk of severe injuries and fatalities escalates.
Efforts to combat drunk driving include public awareness campaigns, increased law enforcement presence, and strict penalties for operating while impaired. However, the impact of a single impaired driver can ripple through families and communities, as seen in the tragedy in Beaver Dam.
