Bear, DE (November 8, 2024) – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday evening on Pulaski Highway, claiming the life of a Newark man. The tragic incident took place at approximately 8:48 PM, east of Wellington Drive.
According to officials, a blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Newark, was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway. At the same time, a pedestrian, identified as 45-year-old Jose Reyes-Medina, also of Newark, was walking in the westbound lanes of the highway. For reasons yet to be determined, the pedestrian entered the vehicle’s path and was struck.
Reyes-Medina was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet and her 2-month-old passenger were unharmed. The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
