Barton County, MO (November 10, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US-160 and 1st Lane in Lamar Heights resulted in injuries to two individuals on Saturday afternoon. The crash was reported at approximately 3:50 PM and involved significant damage to both vehicles.
According to reports, a 1999 Ford Windstar, traveling northbound, failed to stop for a red light and struck a 2021 Cadillac XT5, which was traveling westbound. The impact caused the Cadillac to hit a curb and overturn, while the Ford veered off the roadway and struck a sign.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged and towed from the scene by Parks Towing of Lamar. The occupants of the Cadillac, a 72-year-old male driver and a 72-year-old female passenger from Mount Vernon, MO, sustained injuries. Both were wearing safety devices and were transported by EMS to Cox Barton County Hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the Ford Windstar, an 82-year-old male from Lamar, MO, was not reported injured.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, focusing on the cause of the Ford’s failure to stop at the red light and other contributing factors.
