Barry, MO (September 9, 2024) – A fatal side-by-side vehicle accident occurred on Stallion Bluff Rd, one mile northwest of Shell Knob, on Saturday, September 7. A tree fell on the moving vehicle, leading to the death of 80-year-old Penny A. Hons from Richmond, TX. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen.

The driver, Douglas W. Holley, also 80 and from Shell Knob, MO, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by EMS to Mercy Cassville for treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident, and more details are expected as the inquiry progresses.
