Barry County, MO (November 13, 2024) – A serious collision involving a semi-truck and an SUV occurred Tuesday afternoon on Missouri Highway 37, one mile north of Cassville. The accident left three individuals with serious injuries.
The crash took place at approximately 3:10 PM when a northbound 2014 Honda CRV, driven by a 78-year-old woman from Cassville, attempted a left turn from the right lane, entering the path of a passing 1999 Peterbilt semi-truck. The semi, driven by a 63-year-old man from Avilla, MO, struck the Honda in the northbound passing lane.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene. The driver of the Honda and two female passengers, aged 79 and 87, all from Cassville, sustained serious injuries. The driver was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, while the two passengers were taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. All three were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, with the Honda sustaining moderate damage and the semi incurring minor damage. Towing services removed both vehicles from the scene. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
