Barbour County, AL (November 17, 2024) – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 431 near Lake Point on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:56 p.m., about two miles north of Lake Point.
According to reports, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the four-lane highway from the south side to the north side when they were struck in the southbound lanes of traffic. The exact circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
Emergency responders, including Eufaula Police, Eufaula Fire – Rescue, Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, and ALEA – Troopers, arrived promptly at the scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, a Lifeflight helicopter was dispatched and transported the pedestrian to Southeast Health in Dothan. The individual is currently reported to be in critical condition.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Troopers are handling the investigation to determine the factors contributing to the accident.
