Bailey Lakes, OH – Ashland Motorcyclist Dies Following Accident with Semi on U.S. 250

Bailey Lakes, OH (September 13, 2024) – A 71-year-old motorcyclist, Kenneth Wayne Derr of Ashland, succumbed to injuries after a crash involving a semi-truck on Thursday afternoon, September 12. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on U.S. 250.

Derr was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson northbound when he struck the rear of a 1980 International semi, which had slowed to make a left turn onto County Rd 758. Derr was first transported to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center. Then flown to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he later died.

The semi’s driver, Brandon Mark Carpenter, 37, was not injured. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, though drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
