Austinburg Township, OH (December 22, 2024) – A tragic crash on Friday afternoon claimed the life of a 4-year-old child in Ashtabula County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred just before 1 PM at the intersection of Clay Street and Sexton Road and involved two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 37-year-old woman from Ashtabula was driving a white Honda CR-V southbound on Sexton Road. She stopped at the posted stop sign but then proceeded into the intersection, where her vehicle was struck by a black Jeep Compass driven by a 16-year-old from Geneva, who was traveling westbound on Clay Street.
The 4-year-old child, who was a passenger in the back seat of the Honda, was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead. Both drivers escaped without injury.
