Ashland, OH (January 24, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening, claiming the life of a 77-year-old woman. The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. on U.S. 42 near Route 603 in Ashland County.
Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to those involved. According to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a 2022 Peterbilt semi and flatbed trailer was turning left from a private drive onto U.S. 42 and began moving northeast. At the same time, a 2003 Honda CR-V, traveling southwest, struck the left rear of the semi’s trailer, which was partially in the southwest lane.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Gail Anne Moore of Ashland, tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi, a 60-year-old man from Noblesville, Indiana, did not sustain any injuries. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation, with potential charges pending review by the Ashland Municipal Court.
