Ankeny, IA (November 8, 2024) – A tragic wrong-way crash on Interstate 35 during Thursday evening’s commute resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. The crash occurred around 5 PM between the east mixmaster and SE Corporate Woods Drive, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Paul Jacques, 91, of Burnsville, Minnesota, was driving a Chevrolet Impala northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided with a Toyota Highlander. The impact caused the Highlander to strike a Toyota Sequoia, while a Saturn Vue crashed during evasive maneuvers to avoid Jacques’ vehicle.
Jacques was killed in the crash. The driver of the Highlander sustained injuries and was transported to a Des Moines hospital. Two others were reported to be in serious condition following the incident.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash.
