Andrew County, MO (October 2, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on Route K at Route T in Andrew County at approximately 11:10 a.m. on September 30, 2024, leading to multiple injuries, including two teenagers from St. Joseph, MO. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded promptly to the scene to assist those involved.
According to the MSHP crash report, Amy Sue M. Jackson, a 28-year-old resident of Savannah, MO, was driving southbound on Route K when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. This caused her vehicle to cross the center line and enter the northbound lane, where 71-year-old Larry W. Etzler from Amazonia, MO, was driving. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Etzler maneuvered his vehicle into the southbound lane.
However, Jackson’s vehicle returned to the southbound lane and struck the front passenger side tire of Etzler’s vehicle. Following the impact, Jackson’s vehicle came to rest upright in the southbound lane, while Etzler’s vehicle veered off the west side of the roadway, overturned, struck a tree, and ultimately came to rest on its roof, facing north.
Jackson sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Mosaic Life Care by Holt County EMS for medical evaluation. Two female passengers in Jackson’s vehicle, aged 15 and 12 from St. Joseph, MO, also suffered injuries and were taken to Mosaic Life Care by Buchanan County EMS.
Larry Etzler also sustained injuries and was transported to Mosaic Life Care by Andrew County EMS. Additionally, a passenger in Etzler’s vehicle, 69-year-old Karen S. Etzler from Amazonia, MO, sustained injuries and was similarly transported to Mosaic Life Care.
The MSHP determined that Jackson and the two teenagers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, while both Etzler and Karen were using their seat belts, which likely contributed to their relatively injuries.
