Andrew County, MO (December 28, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US-169 and Route E, one mile south of Rochester, left two drivers with moderate injuries late Friday night. The crash occurred at approximately 10:18 PM when a 2016 Ford Escape collided with a 2015 Buick Encore.
According to reports, the Ford Escape, driven by a 41-year-old woman from Rosendale, MO, was traveling eastbound on Route E when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the US-169 intersection. The Buick Encore, driven by a 69-year-old woman from Union Star, MO, was traveling southbound on US-169 when it struck the Ford Escape in the passenger-side door.
The force of the impact caused the Ford Escape to veer off the roadway, coming to rest in a ditch on its wheels facing east. The Buick Encore came to a controlled stop on the roadway. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Buick being totaled and both requiring towing by Blue Knight Towing.
Emergency services transported both drivers to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO, for treatment of moderate injuries. Responding agencies included the Andrew County EMS, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department. The crash remains under investigation.
We extend our well wishes to those injured in this crash and hope for their full recovery.
Stop Sign Accidents in Missouri
Stop sign-related accidents, like the one at US-169 and Route E, often lead to severe injuries due to the high speeds and the angle of impact. Failure to stop at traffic control devices remains one of the leading causes of accidents at rural intersections in Missouri.
These crashes highlight the importance of vigilance and adherence to traffic laws. Motorists approaching intersections should reduce speed, check for oncoming traffic, and ensure they come to a complete stop when required. In rural areas, limited visibility and higher speeds can exacerbate the severity of collisions.
Victims of such accidents frequently face extensive medical bills, vehicle repairs, and emotional trauma. Seeking immediate medical attention, collecting evidence, and consulting with legal and insurance professionals are crucial steps for recovery and obtaining proper compensation.
