Anchorage, AK (February 11, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon at a duplex in the Muldoon neighborhood of Anchorage. The Anchorage Fire Department reported that the blaze occurred in the 3600 block of Gayot Dr, with the first calls coming in at 4:12 PM. Crews from five stations, totaling thirteen units, arrived on the scene just after 4:15 PM.
Upon arrival, firefighters found one side of the duplex engulfed in heavy flames originating from the garage, with thick smoke filling the residence. The fire quickly extended from the garage into the house, creating a dangerous situation for residents and emergency personnel alike.
One resident was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Anchorage Fire Department indicated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest it may have started while the injured resident was working on a vehicle in the garage.
Half of the duplex sustained significant damage from both fire and smoke, while the other half experienced smoke damage.
