Altoona, IA (December 19, 2024) – A semi-truck rollover crash on Interstate 80 eastbound near 38th St in Altoona caused significant traffic disruptions Wednesday afternoon. The collision, which involved a semi-truck and another vehicle, occurred around 4 p.m., according to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Iowa State Patrol.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene to assist with the accident. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the car involved in the collision sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. No injuries were reported for the semi-truck driver.

Iowa DOT reported that ramps from I-35 S to I-80 E and I-235 E to I-80 E were also closed to thru traffic during the cleanup.
