Almena Township, MI (September 4, 2024) – A serious rollover accident on Tuesday, September 3, injured eight people in Van Buren County. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on M-43 near Fish Hatchery Rd. A westbound van, driven by a 32-year-old man from Van Buren County, crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound SUV driven by a 37-year-old Jackson man.
The collision caused the van to roll, ejecting a female passenger and trapping several occupants. Emergency responders transported both drivers and all six passengers to the hospital. Four of the injured remain in critical condition, as confirmed by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver reportedly may have “nodded off” due to fatigue. Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident and its causes.
