Albany, KY (February 19, 2025) – A fatal head-on collision occurred on US 127 in Clinton County early Tuesday morning, resulting in one death and serious injuries to another individual.

According to Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15, the crash was reported at 6:27 a.m. CST on February 18, 2025. The preliminary investigation determined that Andrew Ridge, 21, of Albany, was traveling south in a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 when his vehicle crossed both northbound lanes and entered the northbound shoulder. As Ridge attempted to return to the southbound lanes, his vehicle collided head-on with a 2022 Mack tractor-trailer, driven by Dylan Tuck, 26, also of Albany, who was traveling north on US 127.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Mr. Ridge was pronounced deceased by the Clinton County Coroner. Mr. Tuck sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Hospital for further treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing by Senior Trooper Weston Sullivan. Authorities were assisted at the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Albany Fire Department, Clinton County Fire and EMS, the Clinton County Coroner, and the Kentucky State Highway Department.

Our thoughts are with the families affected by this tragic accident, and we wish a full recovery for the injured individual.

Truck Accidents in Kentucky

Head-on collisions involving large commercial vehicles and passenger trucks often result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the size and weight differences between vehicles. Rural highways like US 127 pose increased risks for collisions, particularly when vehicles drift into opposing lanes.

Common causes of truck accidents include:

  • Driver fatigue
  • Distraction or inattention
  • Loss of vehicle control due to road conditions
  • Mechanical failures or tire blowouts

Kentucky authorities continue working to improve highway safety through increased traffic patrols, safety awareness programs, and commercial vehicle regulations to help reduce the risk of serious crashes.

For accident victims and their families, the aftermath of a truck accident can be devastating, with medical expenses, funeral costs, and legal complexities adding to the emotional burden. Understanding legal rights and available compensation options can be crucial in navigating the recovery process.
