Airmont, NY (January 9, 2025) – A 7-year-old boy remains hospitalized in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle on New County Rd near Woodland Place on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 5:16 PM on January 8, according to Ramapo Police Lt. Chris Franklin.
Authorities reported that the boy was running westbound across New County Rd toward Woodland Place when he entered the southbound traffic lane and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Emergency medical personnel from Hatzolah EMS responded to the scene and transported the child to Good Samaritan Hospital. Shortly after, the boy was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where he remains under medical care as of Thursday morning.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the police investigation. Officials have stated that the driver is not suspected of any criminal wrongdoing and is not currently facing charges.
