Los Angeles, CA (March 10, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision resulted in injuries early Monday morning on southbound Interstate 405 (I-405) just north of Western Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of the crash at approximately 5:19 a.m. involving at least five vehicles, including a black BMW, a green Hyundai Santa Fe, and an additional unidentified vehicle. Witnesses reported that one vehicle had stopped in the lanes before being struck, contributing to the chain-reaction crash.
Emergency responders, including the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and Torrance Fire Department, arrived at the scene to assist injured individuals and clear the wreckage. At least one person was reported to be trapped inside a vehicle, requiring extrication. CHP confirmed that all involved vehicles sustained significant damage.
Authorities briefly held all lanes while emergency crews worked to free the trapped individual and provide medical aid. By 7:05 a.m., lanes began reopening, but residual traffic delays remained in the area. The incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in California
Accidents involving multiple vehicles, such as the crash on I-405, can lead to serious injuries due to the high speeds and chain-reaction impacts. Freeway crashes are often caused by factors such as sudden stops, unsafe lane changes, or driver inattentiveness. In this case, reports indicate that one vehicle may have been stopped in traffic before being hit, creating a hazardous situation for other motorists.
Victims of multi-vehicle crashes may face challenges in determining liability, as multiple drivers could share responsibility. California law allows injured parties to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages if another driver’s negligence contributed to the crash.
Drivers are encouraged to maintain safe following distances, stay alert in heavy traffic, and avoid distractions to reduce the risk of collisions. If you or a loved one has been injured in a freeway accident, seeking legal guidance can help you explore options for compensation and recovery.
