Shenandoah County, VA (March 10, 2025) — A vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County caused significant traffic delays and left one person injured on Monday afternoon.
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), the accident occurred at mile marker 286.4, temporarily shutting down the southbound left lane and shoulder. At the height of the incident, traffic was backed up for as much as six miles, according to reports from VDOT 511.
Emergency responders transported one person to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As of 5 p.m., VSP confirmed that traffic was moving again, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
