Mahoning County, OH (March 10, 2025) – A serious crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck left a woman with life-threatening injuries late Monday morning, March 10.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just after 10 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 534 and Creek Rd. Authorities say 26-year-old Abigail Biroschak was driving a Hyundai Tucson on Creek Rd when she failed to stop at the stop sign at State Route 534. As a result, she turned into the path of a garbage truck driven by a 45-year-old man from Warren.
The impact caused the SUV to overturn, while the garbage truck veered off the right side of the road. Officials reported that the garbage truck pushed the Hyundai for a significant distance before the SUV rolled over and came to rest in the roadway.
Biroschak suffered critical injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for emergency treatment. The garbage truck driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours as investigators worked to clear the scene and gather evidence, including dash cam footage from the garbage truck.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we hope for a full recovery.
Truck Accidents in Ohio
Accidents involving large commercial vehicles, such as garbage trucks, can result in devastating injuries due to their size and weight. Intersections, particularly those with stop signs, pose a high risk for collisions when drivers fail to yield. In Ohio, crashes involving large trucks frequently lead to serious injuries or fatalities.
Authorities emphasize the importance of coming to a complete stop at stop signs, checking all directions for oncoming traffic, and remaining alert when approaching intersections. Failing to yield or misjudging traffic speed can have severe consequences, as seen in this tragic crash.
While investigators continue to analyze evidence, including witness accounts and dash cam footage, this accident serves as a reminder for all drivers to stay vigilant and obey traffic laws to help prevent similar incidents.
