Stanfield, OR (March 7, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision on Highway 395 near Interstate 84 claimed the life of a 74-year-old Pasco woman on Tuesday afternoon. The crash, which involved multiple vehicles and injuries, resulted in a significant road closure as authorities investigated.
According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred when 65-year-old Celestina Chavarria Nunez, of Pasco, attempted to turn left from Highway 395 onto I-84. Her silver Buick Lacrosse was struck by a northbound Toyota C-HR driven by 41-year-old Tabitha J. Ritzer of Hermiston.
One of Nunez’s passengers, Rosa Maria Badillo, sadly died at the scene. Another passenger, 81-year-old Guadalupe Flores-Mendoza of Pasco, sustained serious injuries and was transported for emergency medical care. Nunez, along with J. Eleazar Flores, 59, of Pasco, Ritzer, and a 10-year-old girl, were treated for minor injuries.
