Boone County, MO (March 6, 2025)  – A collision involving two tractor-trailers occurred on westbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 117 on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one driver injured.

The accident took place at approximately 12:26 p.m. and was investigated by Trooper C.A. Fox. According to reports, a 2023 Kenworth tractor-trailer was traveling westbound when it struck the right side of a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Following the impact, the Kenworth veered off the right side of the roadway, where it collided with a ditch and trees.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene to assist the injured. The driver of the Kenworth, a 45-year-old man from LaFollette, TN, sustained injuries and was transported by Cooper County Ambulance to University Hospital for treatment. The Freightliner driver, a 62-year-old man from Union, MO, was not reported as injured and was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene.

Authorities, including Sergeant G.T. Pemberton and Corporal E.J. Villanueva, assisted in the response. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish him a full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Missouri

Collisions involving semi-trucks, like the one on I-70 at mile marker 117, can have severe consequences due to the size and weight of these vehicles. While truck drivers are highly trained, accidents still occur due to factors such as blind spots, lane changes, fatigue, and adverse road conditions.

Missouri follows an at-fault insurance system, meaning that those injured in a truck accident may seek compensation from the responsible driver’s insurance provider for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. Given the complexity of trucking accidents—including potential liability involving trucking companies and insurers—securing legal guidance can be essential for those involved.

To reduce the risk of semi-truck collisions, drivers should maintain safe following distances, avoid lingering in blind spots, and remain alert on highways. If you or a loved one has been injured in a truck crash, seeking professional support can help you navigate recovery and legal options.
