Hit-and-Run Crashes in Florida
Hit-and-run accidents, like the tragic collision on Sand Lake Road, are a growing concern in Florida. According to state data, thousands of hit-and-run crashes occur each year, many resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. Drivers who flee the scene not only break the law but also leave victims without immediate medical assistance, worsening the outcome.
Pedestrians and cyclists are especially vulnerable in these crashes, as they have little protection against moving vehicles. Poor visibility, reckless driving, and driver inattention are common factors contributing to such incidents.
In cases like this, law enforcement relies on public tips and surveillance footage to identify and locate fleeing drivers. Those affected by hit-and-run crashes may be entitled to seek compensation through insurance claims or legal action, even if the at-fault driver is not immediately found.
