Phelps, MO (March 5, 2025) – A collision on MO-96 in Lawrence County resulted in injuries and extensive vehicle damage Tuesday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 5:38 p.m. when a 2017 Cadillac XT5, driven by a 71-year-old man from Carl Junction, lost control and veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle crashed into the rear of a parked 2015 Chevrolet Cruze on the eastbound shoulder. The impact caused total damage to the Chevrolet and extensive damage to the Cadillac.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the driver of the Cadillac was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with injuries. The Chevrolet’s driver, a 53-year-old man from Miller, MO, was not reported injured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, with Biellier Wrecker of Mt. Vernon handled the Chevrolet and Silverado Towing of Stotts City removing the Cadillac.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
