Arbela, MO (March 5, 2025) – A serious crash involving two pickup trucks occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of US-136 and Arbela, leaving one person with severe injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 7:35 a.m. when a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 92-year-old man from Arbela, failed to observe traffic and entered the path of an eastbound 1998 GMC Sierra. The collision resulted in both vehicles sustaining total damage, requiring removal by Lakeside Towing.

Emergency responders, including the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office, Gorin Fire Department, and Memphis Fire Department, assisted at the scene. Paramedics transported the 46-year-old female driver of the GMC Sierra, a resident of Memphis, MO, to Scotland County Hospital with serious injuries. The elderly male driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Our thoughts are with those involved, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Missouri roadways see a high number of vehicle collisions, particularly at intersections where drivers must make split-second decisions. In cases where a driver fails to yield or recognize oncoming traffic, serious accidents can occur, leading to devastating injuries.

Older drivers may face unique challenges behind the wheel, including slowed reaction times and difficulty judging distances. While Missouri has no maximum age limit for drivers, safety measures such as regular vision tests and driving evaluations can help prevent accidents.

For those injured in a crash, medical care and financial recovery are critical concerns. Accident victims may be entitled to compensation for hospital bills, lost wages, and other damages. Seeking legal guidance can help individuals understand their options and ensure their rights are protected.
