Boardman Twp, OH (March 3, 2025) – Emergency responders assisted two individuals following a two-vehicle crash late Sunday night in the U.S. Route 224 near Southern Boulevard.
According to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canfield Post, the accident happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. when a 2008 Nissan Sentra driven by 54-year-old Anthony Viviano of New Castle, Pennsylvania, was struck from behind by a 2024 Toyota Camry. The Camry, operated by Matthew Brocker, 36, of Canfield, was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed before the impact.
Following the crash, Viviano’s vehicle hit a curb and came to rest on a sidewalk west of Southern Boulevard. Meanwhile, Brocker’s Camry overturned, sliding on its roof until it struck a utility pole near Marinthana Avenue. Emergency medical personnel transported Viviano to the hospital with serious injuries, while Brocker was also hospitalized for further evaluation.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the crash, and an investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
High-Speed Collisions in Ohio
When vehicles travel at excessive speeds, the risk of severe accidents increases dramatically. In Ohio, high-speed collisions remain a major concern, often leading to devastating injuries and significant property damage.
The impact of speed-related crashes can be catastrophic. As seen in this incident on U.S. Route 224, vehicles traveling at high velocities are harder to control and require longer stopping distances. Rear-end crashes at high speeds frequently result in serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal trauma, and fractures.
Ohio law enforcement agencies continually emphasize the dangers of speeding through enforcement efforts and awareness campaigns. Speed limits are set based on road conditions and traffic patterns to ensure safety. However, when drivers exceed these limits, they put themselves and others at risk.
Victims of speed-related crashes may face long recovery periods, mounting medical expenses, and emotional distress. Seeking legal guidance can help injured individuals understand their rights and explore options for compensation.
