Franklin County, MO (March 3, 2025) – A semi-truck crash on westbound I-44 near the 251-mile marker left two men injured early Sunday morning, with one sustaining serious injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. when a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia failed to navigate a curve. The truck veered off the left side of the roadway before re-entering the highway and overturning. The vehicle then slid across the interstate before coming to a stop off the right side of the roadway.
Emergency responders from the Meramec Ambulance District arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. The 64-year-old truck driver from Brampton, Ontario, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. A 52-year-old male passenger, also from Brampton, suffered injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The semi-truck sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by I-44 Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the crash and have not released details on whether speed, fatigue, or other factors contributed to the accident.

The Dangers of Semi-Truck Rollovers on Highways
Large commercial trucks are particularly susceptible to rollovers, especially when navigating curves at high speeds or in poor road conditions. When a truck overturns, it can cause significant traffic disruptions and put both the driver and other motorists at risk.
Interstate crashes involving commercial trucks are often linked to factors such as driver fatigue, excessive speed, or shifting cargo. Truck drivers must remain alert and adjust their speed appropriately when approaching curves or areas with reduced visibility. Investigators in cases like this assess roadway design, driver actions, and weather conditions to determine the cause of the crash.
For those injured in commercial vehicle accidents, the road to recovery can involve medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term rehabilitation. Seeking legal guidance can help victims understand their rights and options for compensation.
