Montgomery County, MD (March 2, 2025) – A two-car collision in Montgomery County left five people injured and caused temporary road closures on University Blvd W at Amherst Ave on Saturday morning.
According to Montgomery County police, the crash occurred just after 11:00 a.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and worked to rescue a driver trapped inside their vehicle. Once extricated, the driver was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
In addition to the trapped driver, medics also transported two other adults and two juveniles to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities have not released further details regarding their ages.
The crash led to the shutdown of University Blvd W at Amherst Ave as emergency crews worked to assist the injured and clear the roadway. The lanes were reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m. The Montgomery County Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
