Head-On Collisions in California
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. In California, these types of accidents frequently occur on rural highways and undivided roads where vehicles travel at high speeds.
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), head-on collisions account for approximately 10% of all fatal crashes nationwide despite being less common than other accident types. Speeding, distracted driving, and lane departures are some of the leading causes of these incidents.
Injuries from head-on crashes can range from whiplash and broken bones to traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and spinal damage. Due to the high-impact nature of these accidents, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial, even if injuries initially seem minor.
Victims of negligent driving behaviors, such as reckless overtaking or impaired driving, may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Consulting with a legal professional can help individuals understand their rights and options following a severe accident.
