Ross County, OH (February 27, 2025) – A devastating two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on U.S. Route 23 in Green Township left one man dead and two others injured Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred shortly after 11:45 a.m. on February 26, when, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Toyota RAV4 driven by 61-year-old Scott Stephenson of Chillicothe was traveling northwest on US-23. The vehicle unexpectedly crossed the median into the southbound lanes, where it collided with a Volkswagen VNR semi-truck.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide aid to the victims. Stephenson was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. A passenger in the RAV4 was airlifted to Grant Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
The semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the RAV4 to cross the median. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
