Geddes, NY (February 27, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Genesee St and North Terry Rd in the Westvale area of Geddes sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The accident occurred around 1:10 p.m., prompting a response from Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel. Officials reported that the collision was a T-bone crash, often resulting from a failure to yield at an intersection.
Both individuals injured in the crash were senior citizens. Although their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, they were transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution, according to Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Thomas Newton.
West Genesee St was closed in both directions between Bronson Rd and Walberta Rd for approximately an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we hope for their full recovery.
T-Bone Collisions in New York
T-bone crashes, also known as side-impact collisions, frequently occur at intersections and can result in severe injuries due to the limited protection on the sides of vehicles. These types of crashes often stem from failure to yield, running red lights, or driver distraction.
According to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, thousands of T-bone collisions occur each year, contributing to significant injuries and fatalities. Senior drivers, in particular, may be at greater risk of injury due to physical vulnerability in high-impact crashes.
For those injured in T-bone accidents, medical costs, rehabilitation, and vehicle repairs can create unexpected financial burdens. Seeking medical care and understanding legal options can be crucial steps toward recovery.
