Gloverville, SC (February 25, 2025) – A devastating house fire on Pine Street in Gloverville, Aiken County early Monday morning claimed the lives of two young children, while a third remains in critical condition at the hospital.

Emergency responders arrived at the home around 12:50 AM following reports of a structure fire. The mother and her four children were rescued and transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers and Doctors Hospital for treatment.

Serahya Jordan, 6, and her sister, 8-year-old Deandolyn Jordan, were tragically pronounced dead at the hospital. A third sibling remains in critical condition, while the mother and a fourth child suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office has ordered autopsies to determine the exact cause of death for the two children. Fire investigators are working to establish what sparked the deadly blaze.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Fire Safety and the Dangers of Residential Fires

House fires remain one of the most devastating emergencies a family can experience, often leaving little time for escape. Fires can spread rapidly due to electrical malfunctions, heating equipment failures, or unattended open flames.

Early fire detection and emergency preparedness can be lifesaving. Experts recommend that families install and regularly test smoke alarms, develop and practice fire escape plans, and have fire extinguishers readily available. Ensuring heating and electrical systems are properly maintained can also help prevent potential hazards.

As authorities continue to investigate this tragedy, fire officials urge families to take proactive steps in fire prevention, escape planning, and safety awareness to reduce the risk of future incidents.
