Pierce County, WA (February 25, 2025) – Crews worked to clear the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Pacific Avenue that involved a Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) patrol car following an attempted carjacking and police pursuit on Saturday.

According to officials, a call for help came in at 10:36 a.m. from a man in a shopping center near DJ Nails at 176th St and Pacific Ave. The victim reported that four individuals attempted to carjack him at gunpoint before fleeing northbound in a black sedan.

PCSO deputies initiated a pursuit, during which multiple police vehicles were disabled. Eventually, officers successfully performed a PIT maneuver, stopping the suspects’ vehicle. Two suspects fled on foot but were quickly apprehended, while the other two remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody.

Authorities confirmed that the black sedan was a stolen vehicle. Four PCSO deputies involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, and two civilians sustained minor injuries after their vehicles were struck during the chase.

Pacific Avenue remains closed as the Washington State Patrol and PCSO investigate the incident.

Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for a full recovery for all affected.
