Howell County, MO (February 25, 2025) – A serious three-vehicle collision on Highway 17, five miles south of West Plains, left two people injured Monday morning. The crash, which occurred around 10:55 a.m., involved a head-on impact and resulted in significant vehicle damage.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened when a northbound 2005 Ford 500 attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a southbound 2015 Toyota Venza. The force of the impact totaled both vehicles. A third vehicle, a 2013 Mercedes, was also involved after striking debris from the initial crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance. The 77-year-old female driver of the Toyota Venza, from West Plains, MO, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Additionally, a 42-year-old female passenger in the Ford 500 suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Ozarks Healthcare. The 38-year-old male driver of the Ford and the 54-year-old female driver of the Mercedes were not reported injured.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. The crash caused delays in the area as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
