Davie, FL (February 24, 2025) – A Fort Lauderdale police officer and four other individuals were hospitalized early Monday morning following a collision involving a suspected stolen vehicle at the intersection of Southwest 45th Street and South State Road 7.
According to the Davie Police Department, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. Reports indicate that the officer was actively investigating a stolen vehicle when the two vehicles collided at the intersection.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided aid to those injured. The officer was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment, while the four individuals inside the other vehicle were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities worked for several hours to clear the crash scene. NBC6 footage showed a police cruiser and two heavily damaged vehicles being towed away. Traffic along State Road 7 was significantly delayed, and the intersection’s traffic lights remained out of service following the incident.
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
