Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Oregon
Multi-vehicle crashes, such as the one on I-5 at the City Center exit, highlight the dangers of high-speed travel on major highways, particularly during peak traffic hours. Portland’s interstate corridors experience a high volume of vehicles, making accidents involving multiple cars more likely.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), some of the most common causes of multi-vehicle accidents include:
- Distracted driving
- Sudden lane changes or merging errors
- Following too closely in heavy traffic
- Roadway congestion during rush hour
While injuries may appear minor at first, victims in car accidents should seek medical attention immediately, as conditions such as whiplash, concussions, and internal injuries may not present symptoms right away.
Understanding legal rights after a crash is crucial, especially for law enforcement officers and other public service members injured in the line of duty. Proper documentation and insurance claims can help cover medical expenses and lost wages following a collision.
