Howard County, MO (February 22, 2025) – A serious auto accident occurred at the intersection of US 40 and MO 240 at approximately 1:07 p.m. on Friday, involving two vehicles. Vehicle 1, a 2004 Chevrolet Cobalt, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with Vehicle 2, a Chevrolet Impala, which was traveling westbound on US 40.
The 19-year-old male driver of vehicle 1 from Farmington, Missouri, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Howard County EMS to University Hospital. His passenger, a 19-year-old female, sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
In vehicle 2, the 39-year-old male driver and the 43-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to University Hospital by MU EMS.
The crash caused significant disruptions in the area, with emergency vehicles blocking traffic at the intersection of US 40 and MO 240. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether road conditions, driver distraction, or other factors played a role in the accident.
