Roadside Accidents and Emergency Worker Safety in Virginia
Incidents like this highlight the dangers emergency responders face while assisting at crash scenes. When working near active roadways, firefighters, paramedics, and tow truck operators are at risk of being struck by passing vehicles, often due to driver inattention, speeding, or failure to follow move-over laws.
Virginia law requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency scenes. Unfortunately, when motorists fail to do so, responders and other individuals on the scene can be seriously injured.
For those injured in roadside accidents, the recovery process can involve medical treatments, rehabilitation, and time away from work. Virginia law allows injured parties to seek compensation if negligence played a role in the crash. Consulting with a professional experienced in accident claims can help victims and their families navigate the legal process and secure the support they need.
