Midland County, MI (February 20, 2025) – A woman from Jerome Township lost her life in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon after attempting to pass another vehicle on Saginaw Road near Lewis Road, according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say 40-year-old Kammie Merryman was driving a 2017 Chrysler Town & Country minivan westbound when she entered the oncoming lane to make a pass. Around 2:15 PM, her vehicle collided head-on with a 2009 Buick Enclave carrying a couple from Clare County.
Merryman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56-year-old man and 54-year-old woman in the Buick sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland for treatment.
Investigators are looking into whether intoxication was a factor in the crash. The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation to determine why Merryman entered the opposite lane.
