Kalkaska County, MI (February 20, 2025) – A Kalkaska police officer, an SUV driver, and a semi-truck passenger were injured in a chain-reaction crash Wednesday morning at the intersection of US-131, M-72, and County Road 612.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 8:30 AM when officers stopped to assist a stalled semi-truck experiencing mechanical issues. Moments after leaving their patrol car, a Nissan SUV crashed into the vehicle, forcing it into the semi. The impact threw the officer into the intersection, while debris struck and knocked down a passenger inside the semi.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and all three injured individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment. Fortunately, they were later released.
