West Palm Beach, FL (February 19, 2025) – A tragic accident Monday night claimed the life of 71-year-old Maureen Clark after her vehicle was struck by a northbound Tri-Rail train on the 1100 block of Forest Hill Boulevard.
According to West Palm Beach police, the crash occurred just before 8 p.m. when Clark’s vehicle was stopped on the train tracks west of Interstate 95. The gate arms were down at the time of the collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Clark succumbed to her injuries.
This incident marks the second Tri-Rail train collision with a vehicle in the West Palm Beach area within the past month. In January, another vehicle was struck at Okeechobee Boulevard and Parker Avenue, resulting in one injury.
Tri-Rail, which operates on tracks running parallel to Interstate 95, has ongoing safety campaigns to raise awareness about railway dangers. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic crash.

Train-Vehicle Collisions in Florida
Train collisions, such as this one, are often fatal due to the immense size and force of moving trains. Despite safety measures like gate arms and warning signals, accidents still occur when vehicles stop on or attempt to cross tracks at the wrong time. Factors such as mechanical failure, driver distraction, or misjudgment can contribute to these devastating incidents.
Florida has seen multiple train-related crashes in recent years, particularly along Tri-Rail routes that run parallel to high-traffic areas like Interstate 95. While awareness campaigns stress the importance of obeying crossing signals, incidents like this highlight the continued need for caution around railroad tracks.
Drivers should always stop well before a crossing when gates are down, never attempt to bypass warning signals, and remain alert when approaching train tracks. Even when no train is visible, it is crucial to follow all safety measures to prevent deadly accidents.
