Brooklyn, NY (February 18, 2025) – A woman lost her life, and three firefighters sustained injuries in a devastating residential fire that broke out Tuesday morning at 1237 67th St in the Dyker Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The fire was first reported at 8:03 a.m., and upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames. Due to the structure being sealed off with cinder blocks, access to the fire was significantly hindered. FDNY escalated the response to a third alarm as flames spread through the roof.
Authorities later discovered the body of a 40-year-old woman in the rear alley. Officials stated she had been squatting illegally in the basement entry at the time of the fire. Emergency personnel transported three firefighters to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Fire operations concluded by 11:08 a.m., and the scene has been secured. This incident marks the fifth fire at this location in the past two years. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones, and we wish the injured firefighters a swift recovery.
