Greenwood, NE (February 17, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 424 led to significant traffic delays and injuries on Monday morning.
According to emergency dispatch reports, Greenwood Fire & Rescue was called to the scene at approximately 9:26 a.m. due to reported neck and spine injuries among those involved. Ashland emergency responders were also paged, and Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) troopers were on-site assisting with the response.
Initial reports indicated that an NSP trooper may have been struck, but deputies later confirmed that all troopers were unharmed. Due to the severity of the crash and traffic congestion, authorities requested that I-80 be shut down at the mile marker 420 and 426 ramps.
Greenwood Fire & Rescue was initially dispatched to assist but was later canceled as Ashland responders managed the scene. Meanwhile, Greenwood units were redirected to assist with traffic control near MM 420.
