Pulaski County, MO (February 14, 2025) – A serious truck accident occurred Thursday morning on Interstate 44 eastbound near mile marker 145, resulting in one driver sustaining severe injuries.

Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victim. The crash was reported at approximately 9:57 a.m. and involved two Kenworth tractor-trailers. According to officials, a 2018 Kenworth tractor was traveling on the eastbound exit ramp when the driver exited the vehicle, landing on the roadway. The truck then veered off the right side of the ramp and collided with a parked 2021 Kenworth tractor. Following the impact, the 2018 Kenworth continued down an embankment, where it struck multiple trees before coming to a stop.

Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. The driver of the 2018 Kenworth, a 26-year-old man from Vicksburg, Mississippi, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Mercy Lifeline to Mercy Springfield Hospital for emergency care.

The 2018 Kenworth sustained extensive damage and was towed by Jack’s Wrecker Service, while the 2021 Kenworth was driven away from the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with additional responders, conducted the initial investigation and assisted at the crash site. Authorities are still reviewing the incident to determine further contributing factors.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish him a full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Missouri

Missouri highways see a significant number of truck-related accidents each year, many of which occur due to sudden maneuvers, mechanical failures, or roadside obstructions. Large commercial trucks require extensive stopping distances and careful handling, making any loss of control especially dangerous.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), crashes involving tractor-trailers can have severe consequences due to the size and weight of the vehicles. When trucks veer off the roadway or collide with parked vehicles, the damage can be extensive, and injuries to drivers can be life-threatening.

For truck drivers and motorists alike, safety precautions such as remaining alert, securing cargo properly, and ensuring vehicle maintenance can help reduce the risk of accidents. If involved in a truck-related crash, seeking medical attention and understanding insurance claims are crucial steps for those affected.
